Hello, I'm Matt McKinley
I am a husband, father, business owner, and entrepreneur who is passionate about helping others discover and foster the best versions of themselves both personally and professionally using successful techniques I’ve discovered over the last decade.
In 2004 my world came to an abrupt halt. On a summer afternoon, as I was traveling on my motorcycle, a driver pulled in front of me creating an event where I became paralyzed as a C6/C7 Incomplete Quadriplegic. I took up residence at the Baylor Institute for Rehab in Dallas and for several months as I healed and rehabilitated. Upon my return home, I slowly settled back in to the rotation of the planet and with the support, love and flexibility from my amazing wife and two awesome boys, we all began navigating a new life with a spinal cord injury. I quickly began realizing that I had to change my approach mentally and change up many of the strategies in several other areas of my life.
I began taking a closer look as it related to my career and noticed several gaps where I was vulnerable in my abilities as the provider for my family. I was part of our Family Business, and in this business, there were three different family members running the show, creating a leadership and vision bottleneck that often kept the employees guessing. There was no plan for succession, a lack of consistency in our procedures, and no signs of it magically ‘fixing itself’. We were often frustrated and stressed. We were experiencing animosity amongst ourselves, and bitterness was brewing. Knowing that my family and I were stuck in this cycle with no plans for how to get out, I soon realized that we HAD to improve our situation… we had to fix the things that just were not working.
One day I just so happened to pick up a local newspaper (something I didn’t, and still don’t do often) and as I was skimming though the pages something caught my eye. At that time, I couldn’t explain why I chose to pick the paper up on that particular day; however, it is crystal clear to me now. When you are ready, the universe will reveal itself to you. That one day the newspaper listed an ad for a business owner workshop being held, locally, by Tom Ziglar (the proud son of Zig Ziglar). Now, I know who Zig Ziglar is, and I figured, anything his son Tom was behind, had to be good and resourceful. The Ziglar name gave the workshop by Tom instant credibility, and I knew immediately that I could learn from or reap the benefits of this workshop in some way or another. I signed up, and I met Tom and Howard Partridge, the exclusive business coach of the Ziglar Corporation. I devoured the material they presented; the systemization, the vision and purpose, the leadership, the marketing and more. It was then I knew I had found what we were in desperate need of in our business as well as what I needed for my personally growth. What I was looking for and visioning in our business and my life as a quadriplegic was suddenly in the distance…a reachable distance. It was if I found an oasis in a hot, dry desert.
The following weekend my oldest son and I attended a full immersion event with Tony Robbins that we had been planned months before. This event blew us away, and I recognized that the timing of the Ziglar workshop could not have been any more perfect! This event expounded upon the business workshop in a way that inspired me to really dial into the Ziglar philosophy, and I was on my way to growing my self-image and improving my mindset. I left the Tony Robbins event with a bag full of tools that could only help me in life…as a person…as a professional.
This is where the rubber hit the road for me! The decisions I made over those back-to-back weeks had brought with them the most impactful decisions I have made for every area of my life. In fact, I came to realize that while my attention had been solely on getting the family business on track, I had to turn my focus to first getting myself in the right space before I could ever get the business and the team in that sweet spot we needed to create. Mr. Zig Ziglar would say, “you don’t build the business, you build the people and the people build the business”. I go a step further to say, you better build you, and get YOU right, before you build the people and get the business right. I’ve been in pursuit of this ever since!
I suddenly had a desire for more. I wanted to know the science behind what I was learning from these men. I knew I was on the path for my purpose in life…a person who wants to help others find what they are looking for, in business and in life, and I wanted more. I studied Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Dr. Robert Rohm, Howard Partridge and Dr. Matthew James. The programs I was learning required intensive onsite training in California and Florida. Remember, I’m a quadriplegic!!! How am I going to travel out of Texas to learn more if I can’t even get myself dressed?!!! How am I going to fly…on an airplane…by myself so that I can actually get to the destination of the events?! How am I going to do the hands-on work required in training?! I didn’t find answers to these questions before signing up for the training. I booked my flight, I packed my bags, and I went. I stepped in to my purpose.
Fast forward several years, and I must say, that along this journey I’ve been implementing the tools I gathered along the way I have been able to make the changes that needed to be made in myself so that we were able to gain success in our family business. I’ve made radical shifts in my mindset and have applied these philosophies, techniques, and strategies to create a life-by-design in my personal and family life. These tools work!
Zig Ziglar often spoke of the “sin of the desert”. Imagine for a moment that you are in a hot, dry desert…nothing but sand for as far as the eye can see. You are on a journey through this desert, and one day you discover a beautiful oasis…an oasis where the water is calm. It’s crystal clear, it’s pure and clean. It offers refreshment and renewal. You see, the ‘sin of the desert’ is when you discover an oasis like this in the desert, but fail to tell others about. It’s knowing where the pure, the positive, and the good is, but not sharing it.
Here’s what I’m doing!....I am offering up all of the pure, the positive, and the good that I have learned over the past decade. I am sharing the strategies that I used to get myself to that place I wanted to be and to turn our family business around. I’m offering the tools that we now teach and train in our business to others. And, I am offering my services to help those who want to do the same…to those who want to save a decade of their lives searching for the answers to similar situations, and compress it down to weeks.
Here’s how I do it!...I RESPECT your model of the world, I SERVE you by meeting you where you are, and I actively listen to what it is you want to accomplish, and how you want to show up as you’re accomplishing it. I coach on how to align your UNCONSCIOUS mind (the part that runs in the background 24/7/365) with your values (your deepest level of programming) and then dovetail that with who you want to Be, what you want to Do, and what you want to have for yourself or give to others.
I provide you with an atmosphere of trust…a place where you feel safe, so that you are able to DREAM BIG as you stretch your potential, GROW personally and professionally and DEVELOP that into your passion while you claim your purpose.
It is my mission is to INSPIRE you to be the person you want to be, EQUIP you with tools that will help you pinpoint who that person is, and GUIDE you in using UNCONCIOUS MOMENTUM to develop and grow you in to your purpose…to discover your oasis.

I also maintain strong relationships and partnerships with some of the most highly respected and trusted names in their fields of expertise, ensuring for you that the results will be met, the material is engaging, the programs are ethical and empowering, and the systems have been used on every continent and every industry imaginable.
